Beryllium copper bushes
for Arrow rods
Arrow have announced that they will be fitting beryllium copper bushing to all steel and titanium rods which use the high performance ARP Custom Age fasteners. Beryllium copper has a much greater resistance to stress fracturing and has proved invaluable in high end motorsport applications.

From now on, anyone ordering steel or titanium rods with Custom Age bolts will get the beryllium copper bushes as standard. Arrow say this change is part of their ongoing development programme which aims to keep their clients ahead of the opposition on and off the race track.

Arrow offer a comprehensive overhaul service and would like to take this opportunity to remind customers that any sign of fracturing in bushes should be dealt with as soon as possible. If you have any questions about the benefits of the new material please don't hesitate to ask.

Carbon-Slip & Diamond-Like followers - hard to hang on to!

Carbon Slip and Diamond-like coated cam followers are selling fast
and it's no surprise when you know the facts.

Arrow now offer two new coatings for use on cam followers which have a friction co-efficient less than a quarter of that of a standard nitrided follower. Carbon-slip is a multi layer coating with only a 4 micron thickness, very low friction and good running in qualities, but more importantly in a follower application it offers greatly reduced sliding load over standard nitrided followers. Diamond-Like is a single layer, pure carbon coating, and is harder and even more wear resistant than carbon-slip. Contact pressures that would lead to siezure or cold welding in normal conditions are achievable with this advanced coating, even limited total lubricant starvation will not give rise to failure in a Diamond-Like coated follower.

These new coatings will give maximum resistance to wear, excellent load bearing capacity, greater reliability, longevity and performance, even fuel consumption can improve with the reduced friction! Not only that, it is very cost effective with prices starting from £6 extra per cam follower.

Arrow to show at the PRI
again this year

Arrow have once again thrown their hat in the ring with the Americans and taken a stand at the PRI show in December of this year.

They are going to take their place with the trade delegation of the MIA who had such a successful 'Pit Lane' at last year's show. Ian Arnold, Managing Director of Arrow Precision Engineering Limited, was delighted with the response from last year's expo, picking up orders and contacts from the huge Indianappollis Conference Centre. But not only that, the sheer enthusiasm of the American delegates for the Arrow product was enough to make Ian want to return.

Ian said, "It's great to get such a positive response from people who know their products. The market is so big over there we have no choice but to go into America and support the use of European and Japanese race engines. We already sell a large number of rods to customers in the States and the PRI is an ideal opportunity to get on the ground and meet the people face to face".

Arrow are taking a contingent of three people with them again this year, travelling with Ian will be Jeff Kirton, Arrow's Production Manager,and Niel Walker, Consultant and ex Formula 1 engine designer. Arrow Precision was founded in 1974 by david Arnold and is today headed up by his son, Ian.
With a rich history already behind it, the company has said that it's future lies firmly in the motorsport sector and, with it's turnover trebbling in the last six years, Ian enthuses that Arrow remains focussed on its core principals of quality, service and cost.

Arrow's entire production process is customer driven and clients are encouraged to come to the company with their projects and then to allow the team to take them all the way from design to production. The company's design team is happy to take a customer's existing rods or written spec and use the tensile and reciprocating load data to generate a design and produce a comprehensive drawing, material specification and a run-down of the dimensions of that particular connecting rod.

All of Arrow's materials are sourced from within the UK and the nickel and chrome alloy steel used is vacuum de-gassed to ensure minimal inclusions. Seven stock rod forgings are then produced from this and every facet of the forging is machined to remove potential stress raising edges. In turn, each rod is rumbled and peened to reduce potential weaknesses and to optimise hardness and finish.

Arrow's customers can rest assured that every single product to leave the factory has undergone magnaflux tests, a full sample inspection and a one hundred percent visual once over - just to make sure.

The company currently manufactures components for World Rally Championship, Le Mans, F3, Superbikes, Classic and Vintage, Touring Car, and various other sectors of the industry.
